APPLICATION

Long Residency is a 6-month studio residency program at The Weaving Workshop. Members commit to a 6-month term with an automated monthly payment of $250. Payment is due on the 1st of each month for the full duration of your residency, regardless of studio usage. You are responsible for planning around any period you won't be using the space, as this is a fixed 6-month commitment rather than a month-to-month arrangement.

Residents are given a 20-inch × 48-inch shelf to store their work for the duration of the program, along with 24-hour access to the studio, our dye area and tools, and discounted materials, seven days a week, except during scheduled class times and occasional studio events. A monthly calendar for checking these will be available for each AIR.

The Weaving Workshop is an intimate studio and educational space, and we expect our residents to be part of The Weaving Workshop community. This means being kind and respectful to students, other members, teaching artists, and visitors.

What if I need to leave before the 6 months are up?

Long Residency is a 6-month commitment, and members are responsible for the full term, similar to a lease. If your circumstances change and you need to leave early, please reach out to us directly, and we'll do our best to work out a reasonable solution, but early exit isn't guaranteed and may be subject to a fee or forfeiture of your shelf space. We recommend only signing up for Long Residency if you're confident you can commit to the full 6 months.

Please note that Long Residency does not provide housing or a stipend. It is designed for local Chicago-area artists to have access to affordable communal workspace within a welcoming community of fiber and mixed media artists.
